Kos table lamp
From myth to history: for a contemporary passion
Kos is a prestigious ovoid lamp by Roberto Casati _ design.
The egg, symbol of life, to generate and regenerate Love in the heart of the house.
For Roberto, the egg represents the image that embodies the universe. Because the shell with the continuity of its line not only recalls the sense of infinity, but also gives a feeling of enveloping and complete naturalness of being.
The most harmonious form that marries nature and the intimate sensuality of Love.
"When darkness enveloped the universe, when everything was a set of nothing,
a shining egg crossed the dark skies and threw itself into the stormy seas.
And then the fish were born ... and then the men were born.
Atargatis, the Siren Goddess, had descended on Kos to fertilize the Universe. To give us life.
Atargatis is living the birth of passions "

Kos was born through the clay casting system.
All stages of processing are carried out in esteemed artisan workshops.
The casting processes are particularly laborious. From the moment of casting the liquid clay into the appropriate mold, it takes 48-72 hours for its natural drying.
Subsequently, the rough clay forms are smoothed and placed in the oven for a first firing at 900-1000 degrees for a day.
We now have the terracotta lamp called "biscuit" due to its particular color. The lamp is then immersed in a special mixture of liquid ceramic and, after a few hours, is decorated by hand, with a large lily, which represents the flowers and scents of the Florentine Renaissance gardens. Finally, inserted in the oven for a new cooking.
Subsequently, the electrical system is built, to then move on to testing and packaging.
The painting is done freehand, without preparatory cartoons (as for the realization of a painting).
